What a poignant swan song for your hometown! This is the fate of so many cities as they grow, become more populated, and more businesses locate there. Munich, my adopted city, suffered a similar fate. In the 1970s, it was a super-hip place to live with all kinds of trendy clubs. Freddie Mercury and other prominent musicians and artists partied here, too. Rising rents drove out the club and bar owners. Munich is now super-expensive and has the highest number of commuters in Germany, as only very high-earning people can afford to live in the city.

I wish I knew what the solution was to stop this development!
