This is behavior many people can relate to. I would add that it is also important to not let yourself be treated poorly by family members in the long term just because they're family. We can only control our own behavior, but if someone consistently treats us poorly we should not keep going back for more.

It is extremely hurtful to be treated badly by a family member, so if after discussing the topic with them (in a calm fashion) and seeing there is no hope for change, it is better for your own mental health to distance yourself from that family member. Better to invest your emotional energy in someone who is willing to treat you with respect and love.
