Interesting! I raised my 2 daughters to be bilingual (I live in Germany) and bought boxes of DVDs of 1960s sitcoms so they would have proper English to listen to for just this reason: modern movies are too hard to understand.

So they grew up watching The Munsters and I Dream of Jeannie, and movies like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins. When they got older they discovered how unusual their media "diet" was. But their English is perfect!
