I left the U.S. over three decades ago. It is shocking to see how homelessness has skyrocketed over that period of time. There is obviously something wrong with the system, for otherwise there would be the same numbers of homeless in Germany where I live. Misfortune can befall all of us. It is sad that this young man's argument with his parents at only age 15 cut his future short. And there are so many others like him out there with similar unlucky experiences with employers, spouses, or health issues.

How can it be that a country with thousands of millionaires cannot keep people off the streets?
