I applaud this article wholeheartedly! I see so many parents who do not know when to stop parenting and ruin their relationships with their adult children. As I tell my husband, just because you see something does not mean you have to comment on it. We all have the right to shape our destinies, including making mistakes.

The wise mother of a friend of mine put it this way: Once our children are older, we need to take a back seat and let them do the driving. Otherwise we risk ruining our relationships, which - with any luck - will outlast any mistakes our children might make.
